Position: Shop Manager
Location: Vernon, BC
Hours: Full-Time (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or similar schedule)
Wage: $25–$35/hour (based on experience and industry knowledge)
Vacation: 2 weeks accrued vacation for the first year, 3 weeks accrued vacation for the second year, and four weeks accrued vacation starting in the third year.

Role Overview
The Shop Manager oversees day-to-day operations in our warehouse and shop areas, managing inventory, coordinating with field technicians, and ensuring tools and materials are properly maintained. By keeping our shop organized and running smoothly, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical teams, enabling them to deliver outstanding service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management
- Track and maintain optimal stock levels of parts, supplies, and tools for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical jobs.
- Monitor usage trends, place orders with approved vendors, and label/store items systematically.
- Tool & Equipment Coordination
- Issue, track, and maintain company tools, scheduling periodic inspections and repairs.
- Ensure equipment complies with safety standards and is available for technicians when needed.
- Shipping & Receiving
- Receive incoming deliveries, verify order accuracy, and update inventory records.
- Coordinate outgoing shipments, such as returns or warranty parts, packaging them properly.
- Organization & Housekeeping
- Keep the shop and warehouse clean, orderly, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Implement efficient layouts for shelves, bins, and storage areas.
- Scheduling & Communication
- Work closely with service and install teams to fulfill parts requests and expedite urgent materials.
- Coordinate with office staff to ensure accurate part allocations for upcoming jobs.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce shop safety protocols, conduct periodic checks, and encourage a safety-first culture.
- Adhere to local regulations for storing hazardous or flammable materials.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce costs, or improve inventory accuracy.
- Propose new tools or technologies (e.g. barcoding, software) to enhance shop efficiency.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of warehouse/shop or inventory management experience (HVAC/plumbing/electrical industry background is an asset).
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with basic computer tools (e.g., spreadsheets, inventory software, email).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate basic warehouse equipment (forklift certification a plus).
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with technicians and office staff.
- Positive attitude and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
